The return of Y2K has been in full swing for a couple of years now and many trends from the early aughts have made their comeback, from baby tees to low rise jeans. At this point, we would not be surprised if people will be rocking side bangs in 2025.
Side bangs as a haircut has gained quite the rep in the past few years. It wasn’t that long that we’ve seen numerous celebrity wear the side-swept look, from Rihanna, Ashley Tisdale, Megan Fox, and even iconic characters like Rachel from Friends
In the early 2010s the hair style took a dark turn as it became associated with Scene Kids and the Emo subculture. Their look of black skinny jeans and skull motifs is topped off – no pun intended- by their exaggerated side bang that almost covers half of their face. You can also add colorful streaks if it for a more playful look.
The style lost favour after that, with people opting for a more natural middle part or straight-cut bangs.
With many fashion predictions stating that we are moving to trends from the 2010s, 2025 might mark the return of side bangs.
Side Bangs? In 2025?
We are not making this prediction out of nowhere. There are a lot of sightings of the style in celebrities even from last year.
Content creator @alenaavictoriaa mentioned on a Tiktok video how celebrities known for their curtain bangs like Jenna Ortega and Sabrina Carpenter are starting to transition to a side bang

Many other celebrities are seen with the haircut.
Dua Lipa and Taylor Swift rocked a slightly fateful interpretation of the side bang trend. But unlike the aughts, we have seen a variety of types of side bangs we’ve seen.
Cardi B was seen with a more blunt side bang style rather than the soft swoop.
On the other hand, Kelly Rowland embraces the softness of the style, creating a look that evokes Old Hollywood glamour.
Anok Yai showed that you can still participate in the hair trend even with a more cropped hairstyle.
Most recently, Angelina Jolie cemented the return of the side bangs – in all its punk-glory with highlight streaks- at the 36th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Film Awards.
Yes! Side Bangs in 2025!
Another reason why we think side bangs are predicted to be a popular hair trend in 2025 is because of its versatility and low maintenance upkeep.
If you want to have bangs but don’t want to commit to a blunt cut, side bangs are a good option. Even if your hair starts to grow longer, side bangs usually blend in seamlessly with your hair because it’s softer and less severe.
This also makes a versatile hairstyle of different face shapes. Although we think the look best suits people with diamond, oval, rectangular, and round faces as it creates dimension and makes the face look longer and proportional. It’s also a good way to highlight your cheekbones.
If you are someone who already has bangs the look is also easy to recreate. All you need is a brush and a hairdryer and your hair can easily look on trend.

And just like how many celebrities have shown, you experiment with different styles of bangs, until you can find one that best suits you.
You can embrace the flowy look, creating a more authentic 2000s blowout type of style.

You can also go for something more straight and sleek. Or, you can play with lengths. Style your side bangs with the longer streaks of your hair, creating a framing effect. The possibilities are endless.

Even though we might still have some lingering trauma from the style of the 2010s, we can’t deny the return of side bangs in 2025. What we are excited for is the amount creative looks people will create with the trend. So, get that brush, swoop that hair to the side, and rock it as if you’re still using MySpace.
